If you want to blow up on Instagram, the first thing you need to do is cut the fluff. No more boring intros. No more rambling. No more “Hi, my name is…” nonsense. Nobody cares. They’re scrolling at 100 miles per hour, and if you don’t grab them instantly, they’re gone.

So let’s get straight to it—how do you actually 10X your reels? Here’s what you need to do.

1. Stop Introducing Yourself – Nobody Cares

Listen, the harsh truth is that unless you’re already famous, nobody cares who you are. People care about what you can give them—entertainment, value, insight, whatever. But if you start every video with:

“Hey guys, my name is Mike, and today I want to talk about how to grow on Instagram. I’ve been doing this for 10 years, and blah blah blah…”

Guess what? They swiped away before you even got to the point.

Instead, hit them with the outcome first. The thing that keeps them watching. The hook is usually the END of the video.

  • “Check out what happens when you invest all your money in stocks.”
  • “Here’s why 99% of new business owners fail in the first year.”
  • “Look at this insane real estate deal that turned $100K into $1M.”

Give them a reason to stay before they even know your name.

2. The Hook is the Outcome

Whatever the point of your video is, start with the best part. The mistake most people make is they build up to the good part, thinking people will stick around. They won’t.

Before you even hit record, talk it out like you’re telling a friend.

  • “Okay, today I’m showing you how to 10X your reels. Here are the three biggest mistakes and how to fix them.”
  • “This is how I finally figured out how to lose 20 pounds without suffering.”
  • “This trick saved me thousands in taxes last year.”

Boom. Now people have a reason to care.

3. Cut the Dead Space – Speed is Everything

If your video drags, people leave. It’s that simple.

  • Remove all the “uhs” and “ums.”
  • Cut out the pauses.
  • Trim every second that isn’t necessary.

Most people’s attention span is shot. If your video doesn’t feel fast and snappy, you’ve already lost them. Go into your editing software and start chopping. Make it punchy.

4. Speak Like a Normal Person

The second people hear jargon, they tune out. You might think you sound smart, but if your content isn’t instantly understandable, you lose the casual viewer.

Pretend you’re talking to a 6th grader.
If you can explain it in the simplest way possible, you win.

Bad:
❌ “Optimizing engagement rates on social platforms requires a nuanced understanding of audience behavior and A/B testing methodologies.”

Good:
✅ “If nobody likes your posts, your content sucks. Here’s how to fix it.”

Keep it stupid simple. Use analogies and metaphors to break things down.

5. Storytelling Beats Information Every Time

Nobody wants a lecture.
Nobody wants another list of “5 Tips to Be More Productive.”
Nobody wants unsolicited advice from someone they don’t know.

Instead of just dumping information, turn it into a story.

Bad Example:

“Here are 5 ways to improve time management: 1) Make a to-do list. 2) Prioritize tasks. 3) Set deadlines. 4) Use a calendar. 5) Avoid distractions.”

Boring. Nobody cares.

Good Example:

“Today, I woke up late again. I’ve been struggling with time management for two years. Missed job interviews, late on rent, got fired. Even my mom (who’s my landlord) is threatening to kick me out. I grabbed a coffee, ran to catch the bus… but my card declined. The driver kicked me off. So I had to walk. Late again.”

“Then, I found a book on the bench—Tony Robbins, Time Management 101. I read ONE thing that changed my life: Write your tasks down the night before. Wake up knowing exactly what to do. No distractions. Since then, I’ve never been late again.”

That’s a story. That’s relatable. That’s what people connect with.

Final Thoughts: Stop Overthinking and Just Start

Most people don’t grow because they’re too busy overthinking instead of executing.

  • Make 100 posts.
  • Try different hooks.
  • Cut out the fluff.
  • Keep it stupid simple.
  • Tell stories.

Stop waiting for the “perfect” content. Just post. Adjust. Improve.

And don’t introduce yourself.
