Lazy content is everywhere. It’s an epidemic, especially in America. And if you’re guilty of it—don’t worry, we’re about to fix that.

Because here’s the deal: lazy content is killing your growth. It’s the reason your Instagram reels aren’t getting views. It’s why your audience doesn’t care. And it’s why no amount of fancy editing, stock footage, or Alex Hormozi-style effects are going to save you.

Let’s break this down.

What Is Lazy Content?

Lazy content is content with zero effort. It’s rushed. It’s generic. It’s structured like a pile of mumbo jumbo that nobody wants to sit through.

It usually looks like this:

  • You pick a “content day” to batch-record a bunch of videos.
  • You set up your tripod, maybe pay some kid $20 to hold the camera.
  • You try scripting out some ideas, but then you get lazy and just start rambling.
  • Instead of having a clear structure, you just talk about whatever comes to mind.
  • You send it to an editor (probably some guy on Fiverr), slap on some stock footage, emojis, and trendy effects, and call it a day.

Boom. You just created 50 reels of garbage.

Why? Because there’s no hook. No payoff. No structure. No reason for anyone to care.

How Lazy Content Kills Your Reach

Here’s the truth: nobody cares about your knowledge.

You could be a doctor, a finance expert, a fitness guru—whatever. People don’t care about what you know. They care about what’s in it for THEM.

But lazy content looks like this:

  • “Hey, I’m Dr. John, and today I’m going to talk about the top health trends of 2024.”
  • “Hi, my name is Mike, and today I’m going to teach you how to 10x your reels.”
  • “Hello, I’m Steve, and today we’re going to discuss the importance of brand strategy.”

Shut up and get to the point.

Nobody wants your intro. Nobody cares about your backstory. The first 3 seconds of your video need to punch people in the face with something they actually want to hear.

The Formula to Fix Your Content

If you want engagement, growth, and actual results, here’s what you need:

1️⃣ The Hook (First 3 Seconds)

  • This is the most important part. If your first 3 seconds suck, your video dies.
  • The hook = the ending of your video.
  • Example:
    • “These are the 5 stocks that are going bankrupt in 2024.”
    • “Here’s how I grew my brand 10x in 3 months.”
    • “Watch what happens when I eat only McDonald’s for 7 days.”
  • Get straight to the point. No fluff. No intros.

2️⃣ The Body (The “Meat” of Your Video)

  • This is where you deliver the value in a clear, structured way.
  • Keep it tight, engaging, and fast-paced.
  • Cut out all the “um’s,” “uh’s,” and dead space.

3️⃣ The Payoff (The Ending)

  • The whole point of your video is to deliver on the hook.
  • The payoff is what keeps people coming back.
  • Example:
    • “After eating only McDonald’s for a week, I lost 3 pounds. Here’s why.”
    • “These 5 stocks are crashing. If you own any of them, sell now.”
    • “I grew my brand by 10x because of ONE strategy. Here it is.”

Lazy Content Mistake #2: ChatGPT Garbage

Here’s another lazy content trap: letting AI do all the work for you.

AI is great, but ChatGPT-generated content is painfully obvious.

You see it all the time:

  • “What’s the one thing every personal brand should communicate?”
  • “How do you handle negative feedback online?”
  • “What’s your favorite trick for creating engaging content?”

Nobody talks like this.

Even if you tell AI to “make it conversational,” it still sounds robotic and lifeless. You can’t fake human emotion, relatability, and personality with AI-generated scripts.

The Real Secret to Great Content

Effort. Creativity. Personality.

That’s it. No hacks. No gimmicks. Just putting in the work.

You want your content to actually resonate?

  • Stop rambling. Have a clear structure.
  • Stop being generic. Make content that makes people FEEL something.
  • Stop trying to sound smart. Talk like a real person.
  • Stop using clickbait without a payoff. Deliver value.

Final Thoughts

If you’re guilty of making lazy content, don’t stress. We’ve all been there. The key is recognizing it and fixing it.

Next time you create a reel, ask yourself these 3 questions:
✅ Does my hook grab attention immediately?
✅ Is my content structured and engaging?
✅ Am I delivering a clear payoff at the end?

If the answer is no, fix it before you post it. Because no amount of fancy graphics, stock footage, or AI-generated scripts can save a boring, pointless video.

Put in the work. Make content that actually matters.

That’s how you grow.
