Let’s be real—most people fail on social media because they refuse to adapt.
I’ve met so many creators who post the same type of content, in the same format, with the same mistakes—every single day—for months, even years. Then they complain:
“Mike, I’ve been consistent! Why isn’t this working?”
I check their page, and every video has 50 views, no engagement, and the same repetitive format. No improvement, no testing, no evolution.
🚨 Posting bad content consistently doesn’t magically make it good. 🚨
If you’re stuck in this loop, here’s the fix:
✅ Become more self-aware about your content.
✅ Make small, micro improvements with every post.
✅ Test, analyze, tweak, and repeat—until you crack the code.
Let’s break it down.
Step 1: Recognizing the Problem – Are You Just Repeating Failure?
There’s a famous saying:
📌 “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
This is EXACTLY what most people do on social media.
They follow a broken system, refuse to change, and then blame the algorithm, social media, or the world for their lack of success.
If your content is not getting engagement, YOU need to change something.
But before you do, you need to figure out what’s actually wrong.
Step 2: Self-Awareness – Ask the Hard Questions
Most people can’t see their own mistakes.
You think your video is good because:
✔ It makes sense to you.
✔ You think it sounds smart.
✔ You worked hard on it.
None of that matters if your audience isn’t responding.
📢 Solution: Ask someone else.
👥 Find a brutally honest friend, family member, or even a stranger and ask:
- “Why do you think this video sucks?”
- “Why do you think it only got one like?”
- “What would make this video better?”
People love critiquing other people’s work. You’ll get a goldmine of feedback that you would’ve never realized on your own.
Step 3: The Power of Micro Improvements
📌 Stop trying to overhaul everything at once.
Most people overcorrect when they finally realize their content sucks.
They go from:
❌ One-shot, talking-head videos
⬇
❌ A full-blown production with effects, music, crazy edits
And guess what? It still sucks—just with more effort.
🚀 Instead, make one small change at a time.
🔹 Example:
🎥 Video 1: Basic talking video, no edits, no music.
🎥 Video 2: SAME video, but add background music.
🎥 Video 3: SAME video, but try a different hook.
🎥 Video 4: SAME video, but add some captions.
Each time, you learn what works and what doesn’t—without overwhelming yourself.
Step 4: Test and Analyze – What’s Actually Moving the Needle?
Social media is one big experiment. The best content creators are the ones who test the most.
Ask yourself after every post:
📌 Did this video get more views than my last one?
📌 Did more people comment or engage?
📌 Did the watch time improve?
✅ If YES – double down on what worked.
❌ If NO – tweak something and test again.
Step 5: Stop Overcomplicating It
Content creation isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being better than your last video.
📢 The game is simple:
1️⃣ Post consistently.
2️⃣ Pay attention to what works.
3️⃣ Make small improvements over time.
4️⃣ Keep testing until you find your formula.
👊 Every big creator you admire? They started with bad content too. The only difference?
📌 They didn’t stop improving.
Final Thoughts: Micro Improvements = Macro Results
🎯 Being self-aware and improving by just 1% each day will take you further than 99% of creators.
📌 Consistency without growth = stagnation.
📌 Effort without adaptation = wasted time.
📌 Posting every day without improving = insanity.
If your content isn’t working, change something.
Now go post that next video—but make it 1% better than the last one. 🚀
