So, you want to shoot your content but don’t know where to start? Maybe you’re stuck in perfection paralysis, thinking you need a fancy camera setup, perfect lighting, and a 10-step shot list.

Stop overcomplicating it.

In this guide, I’ll show you exactly how I shoot my content—from gear, techniques, and shooting process to talking on camera without sounding like a robot.

Let’s break it down.

Why I Use an iPhone Instead of a Camera

I used to shoot with a DSLR. I had the whole setup—lights, gimbals, external mics. And it slowed me down.

Now? I shoot everything on an iPhone 14 Pro.

Here’s why:
Lightweight & always with me – No need to carry heavy gear.
Candid & natural – Social media content should feel real, not overproduced.
Faster workflow – I airdrop my footage straight to my Mac, edit, and post. No SD cards, no transferring files for hours.
Quality is already insane – iPhones today shoot HDR, 4K, 60fps—more than enough for social media.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking social media content needs to look like a Hollywood production. It doesn’t. Raw, imperfect videos actually perform better because they feel authentic.

How I Shoot My Content Without a Shot List

I used to plan my shots in advance, mapping out the perfect sequence. But real life doesn’t go as planned.

I’d plan for an outdoor shoot—then it would rain.
I’d have a perfect script—then forget half of it.

So, I stopped using shot lists.

Instead, here’s how I shoot my content now:

1️⃣ Know Your Journey – What’s your main goal? For me, it’s losing 100 lbs, fitness, and self-improvement. Every shot I take is connected to that.

2️⃣ Capture Key Moments of the Day – I don’t need to overthink it. I just grab quick, natural shots:

  • Morning routine – Waking up, making coffee, breakfast shot
  • Workout – Walking, lifting, running, or sweating it out
  • Work hustle – Laptop grind, brainstorming, problem-solving
  • Reflections – Sitting, thinking, overcoming obstacles
  • Night routine – Wind-down moments, recap of the day

3️⃣ Shoot Short, Steady Clips – Instead of shaking my phone around, I hold the shot steady for 5-10 seconds, lock in the moment, then move on.

By the end of the day, I have 20-50 clips—natural, effortless documentation of my journey.

At night, I go through my clips and look for the story. What was today’s biggest lesson? What felt different? That’s my theme.

How to Talk on Camera Without Sounding Awkward

For talking clips, I use two methods:

📌 Bullet Points – If I’m at home, I list out my main points, then freestyle the delivery.
📌 On-the-Fly – If I’m out, I speak naturally, keeping it concise.

Get to the Point

Most people ramble. I used to, too. I’d start talking, then finally get to the point at the very end.

Here’s the trick: Figure out your main point first, then start with it.

Example:
Bad: “So, today I was thinking about how time management has always been a problem for me, and I realized that I should probably start structuring my day better because it’s something I struggle with.”
Good: “Time management is ruining my progress. Here’s how I fixed it.”

See the difference? No fluff. No wasted time.

The Opposing Thought Trick (Instant Confidence Boost)

Still struggling to sound confident? Try this:

Think about the opposite of what you’re saying.

Example: If you’re giving advice on losing weight, imagine someone saying:
💬 “Your weight loss tips are BS. They don’t work.”

Now, your goal is to prove them wrong. That little mental opposition fires up your energy and makes you speak with conviction.

Final Thoughts: Keep It Simple, Keep It Moving

Filming content doesn’t have to be complicated.

🎬 Use your phone – No need for fancy gear.
📸 Capture key moments – Don’t plan, just document.
🗣️ Talk with confidence – Get to the point, use the opposing thought trick.

Now, go out there and start shooting. 🚀
